Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes

March 19, 2010

Sims time did not happen yet because I am doing my own virus scan/removal that isn’t $130 and doesn’t take 2 days. Actually 2 days is totally possible right now. It’s been nearly an hour now and the little status bar has barely budged. So, first up: cupcake time!
Well…I thought I had my camera with me but I was wrong, so for the next 48 hours, you will have to deal with blurry unfrosted cupcakes as seen by a camera phone.

(if you make it small enough, nobody has to know it was taken in terrible lighting)
I don’t do Guinness. I tried it after making these cupcakes and I had to just immediately dump the rest. However, even if you are like me, it is so good in these cupcakes. It makes them super happy to rise up in the oven and then they are ridiculously moist. The frosting is kind of blah, but there are plenty of variations out there with Bailey’s frosting, which sounds amazing too. Read more

a long delayed CIDER MEGAPOST!

January 24, 2010

I started writing this in November, as apparent by the permalink. I then forgot to ever post it so I am FINALLY doing so.
I love cider. I really do. Apples fit up there somewhere in my top 5 favorite fruits, so it is only fitting that apple juice turned alcoholic is a favorite thing of mine.
We were looking for a Finnish vodka in Total Wine in Alpharetta to no avail, and I just sort of wandered over to the individual bottles of beer in order to keep my mind off the sparkly silver bottle of raspberry vodka that I am dying to have. Then the next day of this whole project, I picked up a 500ml bottle of some other English cider. Obviously this just snowballed into something more. Read more

December 27, 2009

Figuring out what I was doing for Christmas was more work than necessary.
We can all thank this cake:

This was on the cover of Bon Appetit’s Christmas issue and as soon as I saw it I HAD TO MAKE IT. Read more

Taste of Atlanta 2009

October 10, 2009

I put myself into a food coma today. And it was worth it.
Since I’m from Chicago, I have of course been to the “Taste of” festival of all festivals: the 9 day long Taste of Chicago. Granted, at the time I was a child, but I still remembered enough to be confused as to a) why Taste of Atlanta is 2 days long and b) why it closes at 6 and c) why it charges an admission fee beyond the taste tickets.
Whatever, it’s not Chicago, and it actually had more restaurants, probably because there’s not 9 days to be set up outside. Read more

Review: Fellini’s Pizza

October 6, 2009

It may already be Tuesday, but pizza and Sweetwater 420 at Fellini’s has already made my week. I’ve been having a rough time lately with how freaking impossible it is to find a job around here (who knew you needed a bunch of skills to work at Macy’s? They do realize they’re like…Sears now.) and the fact that I have made like two friends in two months. I told Joe I needed a job, 6 new friends, and a pizza if he wanted to help me feel better, and sadly only one of those was really feasible, but at least it’s the most delicious choice.
I love Fellini’s way too much. Coming from Chattanooga, I can definitely tell that Lupi’s pizza up there is the stepchild of Fellini’s, down to the composition of their salads. However, I prefer Fellini’s for sure. One of the highlights of where I live is that Fellini’s is never far away. I am definitely trying to not make them a weekly thing in my life, but I don’t know if I can help it. Read more

Chicago Day 2 09/06/09

September 9, 2009

It is Wednesday, I am honestly not pleased with Sunday still. First off, I had to eat Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. There are Dunkin Donuts in Atlanta. I am kind of forced to eat something from there nearly every weekend I stay over at my boyfriend’s. Little did I know what existed next door to the Dunkin Donuts that I should have gone inside for breakfast there anyway…
So my mom, my dad, my brother, my aunt, and my 2 cousins, and I were off to see the White Sox play the Red Sox, and that required going to US Cellular Field, as apparent by that first photograph. Last time I was here I think I was in the fourth grade? It was still Comiskey Park at that time, so everything looks pretty brand new as far as I’m concerned. Read more
